Meadowside Cottage is situated between Keswick and Cockermouth at the head of Bassenthwaite Lake. It sleeps up to four people across two ensuite double bedrooms and welcomes up to two small, well behaved dogs. The cottage is a light, modern self catering property with its own quiet private entrance and furnished patio area. It is attached to Lakeside Country Guest House, a grand Edwardian house overlooking the lake towards the Skiddaw mountain range. The recently converted accommodation has been refurbished to a great standard to provide a warm comfortable base for a self catering holiday.

Inside there is a stylish open plan living area, featuring a fireplace with mood lighting, a flat screen TV in the living room and TV’s in the bedrooms which also have DVD players and boast pleasant views over the meadow towards Cockermouth. Both bedrooms feature ensuite walk-in showers and there is a ground floor utility room with washing machine, dryer and additional WC. The main bedroom has a super king size bed which can be turned into twin beds. The second bedroom is a double room with a stylish sleigh bed. The well equipped kitchen is open plan with oak dining table on grey upholstered chairs.  In the bathroom, the owners have thoughtfully provided fluffy cotton towels and complimentary toiletries.

The shore of Bassenthwaite Lake is a short stroll away and rich with wildlife. Between April and September you may even be lucky enough to see the rare Ospreys that nest near the lake. Keswick and Cockermouth are a scenic ten-minute drive in opposite directions from the cottage. Cockermouth is known for being the birthplace of William Wordsworth. It is beautiful town with many Georgian buildings, plenty of independent shops and places to eat and drink. In the other direction, Keswick is a popular outdoor town with dog friendly pubs, outdoor shops and activity providers.

There is superb walking in the Bassenthwaite area around Meadowside Cottage. Skiddaw, Sale Fell, Binsey and Dodd Wood are all within a five- to ten-minute drive. There are some pleasant walks from the door to the lake shore, Silver Meadows, (a nature reserve with board walks and bird hides). Sale Fell can also be reached without the car. Dodd Wood has a small tea room and signed walks through the forest to the summit where the Ospreys can be viewed during their visit through high powered telescopes where the rangers will help you to locate the nest and chicks. The Pheasant Inn and The Lakes Distillery are within walking distance. You will receive half price tickets for Tour/Tasting and afternoon tea and discounted tickets can also be organised for most shows at Theatre by the Lake in Keswick.

Meadowside Cottage can be let alongside Lakeside Lodge which is next door to accommodate a further 2 people. It is also available for short stays.
